Description:
Are you curious about mushrooms and have you ever wanted to cultivate your own edible mushrooms? Milton Tam will answer your questions, tell you a bit about how mushrooms grow, and will show you his simple and reliable method for cultivating oyster mushrooms. You will then make your own oyster mushroom growing kit using recycled and easily obtained materials. Take the kits you made home and watch them first fill out the bag and then grow out the sides. In 3 to 4 weeks you should have your own crop of oyster mushrooms. Pick and use them in your favorite dish. They're delicious!

Instructor: Milton Tam
A local Ravenna resident for 35 years, Milton attended the University of Washington, and then worked at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, in the biotech industry, and in global health programs. After retiring, he now has more time to pursue his diverse interests including mycology and mushroom cultivation, travel, winemaking, cooking, fishing, and community gardening. He developed the simple cultivation method that will be used and is on the Board of Trustees and is the Cultivation Committee Chair of the Puget Sound Mycological Society.
